Prayer Shawl Ministry
Shawls ….made
for centuries universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive,
unconditionally loving God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover,
give solace, Mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Those who have
received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if
given wings to fly above their troubles. This is written by
Janet Bristow one of the creators of the Prayer Shawl Ministry.
Her companion is Victoria Galo and together they gave birth to a
ministry as a result of their experience in a program of applied
Feminist Spirituality .Compassion and the love of
knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry
and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of
comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy. Many
blessings are prayed into every shawl. (www.shawlministry.com)
Our Mission
here at Sacred Heart is about Love and Caring. Love is caring
enough to spend time in prayer. We create something tangible for
the recipients of that love. We care enough to share in God’s
work, through the gift of creativity that He has given us, to
those who are in need of spiritual comfort.
We meet once a
month – The fourth Monday of the month
Time – 7 to
8:30 pm
Place – Convent
Meeting Room
It is our goal
to have enough shawls and lap blankets for parishioners whose
names are given to Parish Outreach.
It is through
this office they will be given out.
It is never too
late to learn how to knit or crochet and my mom, Dora Accurso
and myself, Marie Gandini (485-3284)
will be happy to
help you.
